The DVLA boss should have gone ahead to tell us whether all existing number plates already in the system will have to change to the new number plates or its only vehicles that will go for registration beginning from 2026 that will be embossed with the new design. it will be better if every vehicle owner changes the new design with same number to ensure uniformity. The only challenge will be for DVLA to as old number plates owners to pay for the new one. That one, John Mahama will hear.

DVLA can go further by assigning vehicles registration numbers that reflect the year of their first registration, in the case of imported vehcles. For example, a car imported from Canada to the US in 2025, that was first registered in Canada in 2020 would have a corresponding registration that reflects 2020 NOT 2025 in the US. This prevents congestion at the ports and speeds up registration whereby the vehicles are not driven around for longer than necessary on temporary plates in order to have a 'new' car image when they are eventually registered. It also makes tracking easier for law enforcement, in the event the vehicle is stolen.

Are our technical institutions and establishments producing Gh made machines and using Gh materials or are we importing machines and materials from elsewhere?
There are so many questions.
Whatever is done pls don’t attempt to tell us that car number plates that are already in use need to be changed. We will not be happy with that. Thank you.
