  If the expectation is that people should import more then what will be the net effect on the country's balance of payment. We are shooting ourselves in the foot when we think this way. We have to grow our local industries and become self reliant in many stuffs especially in what we eat.

  Wow! Politics is setting back our development. Frequent fluctuation was bad but artificially propping the currency is costly and detrimental. All the propaganda is coming back to bite this administration. No new planes, no chartered flights, weak dollar, roads, hospitals etc.
  
  We should instead encourage exports and make the cedi exchange rate attractive to the diaspora. If we want to maintain 1:10, fine, but prices must be commensurate. Reduce inflation. High prices will lead to stagflation if the exchange rate continues to be propped up artificially. What we need is rather import substitution, producing locally.

  Nonsense . Government's reliance on revenue from the ports is the reason why Ghana is not developing. Instead of revising the tax laws to capture a lot of the citizenry to meet their tax obligations to the state, our lazy government is only targeting the ports and always employ their relatives there to corrupt the place.

  How is the Cedi gaining strength a problem. I think some of these people's qualifications need further scrutiny because I don't get this. If he can't do the job he should make way for someone who can.

It’s sad to hear that a government official is lamenting that the strengthening of the cedi is a bad thing. We’re doomed with suck kind of mentality
