We should instead encourage exports and make the cedi exchange rate attractive to the diaspora. If we want to maintain 1:10, fine, but prices must be commensurate. Reduce inflation. High prices will lead to stagflation if the exchange rate continues to be propped up artificially. What we need is rather import substitution, producing locally.

How is the Cedi gaining strength a problem. I think some of these people's qualifications need further scrutiny because I don't get this. If he can't do the job he should make way for someone who can.

Some sane politician should explain to us why duties in Ghana are calculated using the U.S. dollar as the denomination currency. For Ghana to develop, we need to reduce importation of foreign goods, while increasing exports. It’s sad to hear that a government official is lamenting that the strengthening of the cedi is a bad thing. We’re doomed with suck kind of mentality
