It's so sad that our politicians, court the friendship of such people for political expediency. He was courted by ex president Akuffo Addo and Mahama, for their own political ends. Such practices, in my opinion, are very dangerous and inimical to the rule of law. Eoco is an independent institution on it's own totally detached from government, so why don't we give them the elbow room to perform their duties devoid of politics? Those protesting for the release of Shattta Wale, are committing disorderly conduct which can not sit well with democracy. If this is not checked, Ghana will become an anarchist state and everything will fall apart. Shattta, is my hero, but the laws of the land must take precedence. We're a democracy, and the rule of law must prevail.

The Shatta Wale issue is one that brings shame to all of Ghana; no one should be happy about it.

Staff and management at EOCO should review the practices and procedures to ensure if its mandate is in line with tax/taxation statutes on the books. These are questions EOCO, GRA, DVLA, Ports & Harbour and other agencies of government must answer:
(1) Who imported those vehicles that have been tagged as stolen vehicles?
(2) Where are the original port of entry papers and presumed reported values upon their arrival, clearing agents, ownership documents and all taxes paid prior to each vehicle release at the ports?
(3) Where are original vehicle registration, license plate purchases and tax documents on each of the identified vehicles?
(4). Has Shatta Wale registered said vehicles with the DVLA on schedule and annually as required by law.

I'm of the opinion that the screw up is with Ghana's taxation laws that are crafted by our know-it-all parliamentarians who are busy selling lies and chasing fame ad content providers.
We chose to forge taxes on engine size while civilized and industrialized nations who introduced the NPP leadership to "PROPERTY SEEKING DEMOCRACY" has their vehicle/ automobile values based on make, model, chassis, year engine-size and color.

If we do not build cars and heavy machinery in Ghana and if we are collectively wise should we not copy from what producers do since we love to copy their laws including origins of law in latin and other English and American law quotations and adjudication results?

Why should Shatta Walle tell government tax collectors, who he purchased vehicle from, the price of the vehicle and taxes paid to date when government does not ask anyone price of their homes, value of land acquisitions and taxes paid to date on said lands? The information on each vehicle and each home in Ghana must be on record at agencies such as the ports & harbour authority, lands department, GRA, DVLA and all agencies with interest in spending taxpayer funds.

It is our negligence and arrogance brought on by our ignorance that has allowed people to brag about being rich and successful when their tax records do not match their chest beating nonsense and MP's and executive appointees fail to submit asset declarations on schedule. A 3rd of development funding could be realized through property tax collection that is fair and equitable.
