I have been curious and guess what I found? Apparently,27 persons are standing trial in eight (8) prosecutions that are ongoing in Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. The OSP has also secured seven (7) convictions through plea bargaining under the Ghana Education Service payroll fraud investigation jointly conducted with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department. Most importantly, the joint investigation resulted in the suspension of GH¢2,854,144.80 and the removal of names of deceased, retirees, and post vacators from the government payroll, saving the country GH¢34,249,737.06. What we forget is that if these sums had gone undetected, they would have been paid to individuals for no work done. Asemba Ya abotre.

I have a different opinion, and I think you will hold a different view too when you pay attention to my comment. In my view, the OSP and the Special Prosecutor have shown commitment to fight corruption and bring perpetrators to book. The OSP is an institution we are all interested in its success and I have been curious, but guess what I found? Apparently,27 persons are standing trial in eight (8) prosecutions that are ongoing in Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. The OSP has also secured seven (7) convictions through plea bargaining under the Ghana Education Service payroll fraud investigation jointly conducted with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department. Nana this is not true. In my view, the OSP and the Special Prosecutor have shown commitment to fight corruption and bring perpetrators to book. The OSP took the first steps to ensure Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta’s name is on the INTERPOL red Notice for his location and provisional arrest in the jurisdiction he is found, pending his extradition or surrender. The Office has also dispatched a request through the Attorney General for his extradition to the republic of Ghana. I must admit that extradition processes go through various levels of checks from the jurisdiction where he is located. These processes take some time, and can be complex, time-consuming, and it may take weeks or even months for Mr. Ofori-Atta to be brought down to Ghana.
But let me move further to add this. The OSP is an institution we are all interested in and I have been curious, but guess what I found? Apparently,27 persons are standing trial in eight (8) prosecutions that are ongoing in Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. The OSP has also secured seven (7) convictions through plea bargaining under the Ghana Education Service payroll fraud investigation jointly conducted with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department. The OSP has secured seven (7) convictions through plea bargaining under the Ghana Education Service payroll fraud investigation which jointly conducted with the Controller and Accountant General’s Department- this is also in response to its investigation and prosecution mandate. Most importantly, the OSP through this joint investigation suspended GH¢2,854,144.80 and removed the names of deceased, retirees, and post vacators from the government payroll. This saved the country GH¢34,249,737.06? That is an institution working to achieve its mandate. The OSP is working to cement its impact scrapping it is not a solution.
