The work of a Regional minister is to ensure that all DCEs comply.. So again what was the purpose of that journey?

Preventable in the sense that if it was a regional representation these persons wouldn't need to move from Accra by helicopter. The Ashanti Regional Minister could conveniently go by road.

The writer of this article has really initiated an important conversation which needs to be discussed and considered. What happened is very unfortunate and painful. This came out to public domain and attracted has attracted public attention because of the personalities that perished. There are many of such occurrences even though of small magnitude, but still impacts families negatively. For me, when I heard the incident and heard all the people in government that were already on the ground including the Ashanti Regional Minister, the Sector Minister and all other high ranking officials, my question was, what was the purpose again in sending all these team again from Accra for us to loose such family members?

I hope the president and parliament will reflect on this and pass a law to seriously enforce our decentralization laws and be serious about it. Apart from preventing these unfortunate calamities, it will also limit frivolous government spending on these activities. But the big elephant in the room is, will these government officials learn from this and do the needful since most if not all of them benefit financially and materially from these

THey can represent the president at such functions, to avoid excessive travels and costs so that the leader of the land can attend to more sensitive issues of the country's development
