When he was defeated close to Feyiase, the stool was one of the trophies of battle that the Asantes seized from him. These included the Silver Pot that is always carried by a man in front of the Asantehene whenever he appears in public. The Dormaahene is right on this point.

After the ambush of Nana Ntim Gyakari by the agona Dwaben ( Juaben ) royals, they looted Denkyira of its gold and artifacts, including the Denkyirahene's oware, stool, and mask, all made of gold, as they were dwellers and traders of gold.

The Kwaaman Chief (now Kumasi), who was chosen to head the insurgency, demanded the war booty from the Dwaben people.

They delivered the boots but refused to deliver the golden Oware, so a war was waged against the Dwaben people by Ɔkɔmfo Anokye and his friend, Osei Tutu.

The Dwaben people consequently fled to seek refuge at Akyem Abuakwa.

When they followed them there, they were faced with resistance from the Adonten of Akyem Abuakwa.

Ɔkɔmfo Anokye then queried, ' Kuro ben na me kukuro a me nntumi yi' to wit 'which town is this that I'm unable to defeat' giving rise to the name 'Kukurantumi'.

It was a Friday that the insurgency took place and so the ntam ( nemesis or bane ) of Denkyira is ' Denkyira ne Fiada ' and one of the looted artifacts, namely Wirempe stool renamed to Sikadwa Kofi because they looted and got it on the Friday.

BANKAM DWA AND THE DENKYIRA IDENTITY

The Bankam Dwa of Denkyira is the beaded black stool of Denkyira that descended from the sky and landed on an oil palm tree.

Parrots announced its descent to Nana Ayekra Adeboe, a priestess and matriarch of Tutumbe.

So the family (Agona) of Nana Ayekra Adeboe became custodians of the Bankam Dwa.

The Agona family is a custodian and not the owner of the Bankam Dwa.

The owner of Bankam Dwa is God/Twene-Adu-ampon Kwame and the angels (the three principal deities of Denkyira) that brought the stool from above to below.

Nana Ayekra Adeboe was charged as the custodian of the stool for all Akans and non-Akans and to pass the customs of Bankam Dwa to them.

That is why it was a Denkyira tradition for all royals within the Denkyira domain to learn the traditions of Bankam Dwa before they were enstooled.

Denkyira Abankeseɛso during the time of Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Boa-Amponsem I was a cultural centre for all royals from Wassa, Sefwi, Twifu, Kwaman, etc who were subjects of Bankam Dwa.

The King of Denkyira is a custodian and a priest of Bankam Dwa. He conveys the message of Bankam Dwa to the people of Denkyira.

Can a king be successful without the support and commitment of his divisional chiefs?

is a kingdom or nation made up of all the clans and ntorons of Akan and even non-Akan as well.

We have Aduana, Asakyiri, Asona, Asenie, Oyoko, Ekuona, Biretuo, etc, as members of the Denkyira Kingdom, and they are part of Denkyira Governance.

These are just three out of the many Denkyira Divisions and their clans Kyeremfemhene/Nifahene (Asona Clan), Adonten (Oyoko Clan), and Ankobiahene (Aduana Clan).

Can you build a kingdom if your Ankobea Division decides not to protect children and women left behind during wartime?

This should be good to explain to people that Denkyira is an Empire of many clans.

Each division plays a crucial role in the development and progress of Denkyira. But we are all subject to the command of God through Bankam Dwa.

The beaded stool means a group of kingdoms or chiefdoms that unite to form a nation. Denkyira is a Kingdom with many of its subjects in diaspora, but still owes allegiance to the Great Bankam Dwa.

Denkyira is not limited to those currently living in Denkyira, but all those who owe true allegiance to the Great Bankam Dwa, but got scattered because of war, are still considered part of Denkyira.

That is why Nana Kwabena Kuffuor of Nkawie became king of Denkyira in 1931, even though he was chief of Nkawie in the Ashanti Kingdom.

You can live in the North, South, East, and West of Africa, so long as you can trace your lineage to Bankam Dwa or to any of the Divisions of Denkyira, you are Denkyira and accepted by the Great Bankam Dwa.

"So long as Bankam Dwa lives, we can rebuild Denkyira. The Denkyira stool was not made by human hands. So no human born of woman can destroy Denkyira!" - Ɔdɛɛfoɔ Kwadwo Tsibu I (1813 - 1851), The Architect of Modern Denkyira.

"The children of Bankam Dwa may be scattered around to rich and far lands as we have moved from Denkyira.

But as the beads of Bankam Dwa are different but united, so shall the children of Bankam Dwa go back as different and united to serve the stool and rebuild Denkyira.

No priest, no king, and no power can destroy Denkyira so far as Bankam Dwa lives!" - Nana Gyakari Panin (1690s - 1719), the Bodwesango Chief who defeated the Asantes seven times when the Asantes waged a series of wars to take the" Dwete Kuduo", "Bosomuru Hat", "Bosomuru Sword", and other sacred artefacts from Bodwesango.

"Men are born to fight and protect our kingdom. I am a child of Kotoku, but we all serve Denkyira.

I will rather die as a Kotoku than to live as a servant of Asantehene." - Nana Kodie Akrasi aka Nana Bediawuo, the Agyenuahene of Akyem Kotoku who killed Nana Osei Tutu I (King of Asante) in River Pra in 1717.
