Two of the CASA transport planes recently acquired,allegedly, are grounded because of lack of spares, and most of the choppers are unserviceable for the same reason. Even commercial aircraft, which are used almost nonstop, have an average lifespan of 15 years, because they are rigorously maintained.

It's not the citizens who oppose gov't spending but the politicians themselves especially ndc when they are in opposition. They opposed acquisition of presidential jet, opposed construction of Jubilee House, opposed free SHS, opposed NHIS etc. Always their argument is that the timing is wrong and that the level of poverty is high or pupils are studying under trees etc. The comments they will pass on the issue on the ground will be supported by the party members without passionate attention to the topic. See how Ablakwah said on Nana Akufo Addo's foreign trips and the citizens believed and bought into that idea that indeed the president was indeed spending too much. Ablakwah incited the people against the president and for that reason, the citizens rose against the npp gov't and the party in the elections. The posture of ndc when in opposition is worrisome when it comes to spending as they have no iota of trust in npp gov't. Now the country is facing the consequences of brushing aside spending on key national issues for simple reasons that there's poverty and that school children are under trees etc.
