  Egypt has been issuing threats including threats of war against Ethiopia over its mega hydroelectric dam project as if the nile river is theirs alone. If the river is solely theirs they should take it from the upstream countries so that those countries can reclaim their lands from the river bed for other productive purposes. Egypt has no right to determine how other nations should benefit from the potential of the nile river because it considers its development more important than those of the upstream countries. It can only engage those countries on the basis of diplomacy, not threats upon threats.
