Traditionally, the Asantehene who is also a Paramount Chief of the Asante People but regarded as The Primus Inter Pares has got no authority to SUMMON OTHER ASANTE PARAMOUNT CHIEFS. It is the Asanteman Council that can summon Paramount Chiefs. Don’t let the Asantehene assume Powers that have not been bestowed on him by the Asante Custom and Tradition.
It was once attempted when the Asantehene decided that at an occasion, he was the King and no other Paramount Chief should ride the Paranquin but him. The Paramount Chief of New Juaben who sees himself as a Paramount Chief as the Asantehene refused to walk to the Durban and went back to Koforidua. I very much remember that story. Asantehene is not over and above any other Paramount Chief in the Asante and New Juaben Paramounties. If the Asantehene feels he is the Greatest, let him go to Canada and demonstrate it. He is wanted there and he will be thrown into Prison. He has been to so many Developed Western Countries but why not Canada. He will be imprisoned if he steps there unless covered by Diplomatic Immunity. He is very much respected in Ghana but he is just like the other Paramount Chiefs in Ghana. Some people may call him King but that is not recognized under our Constitution.

Don’t you know that the Asantehene is not over and above the other AMANTOUR States and the Paramount Chief of New Juaben? I grew up in Ashanti Region, studied Asante History and Culture so I know the much that the Asantehene can and cannot do to the other AMANTOUR States. He is respected in the New Juaben Traditional area but not considered as the ONE IN ALL. He has limitations at New Juabeng though they are all Asante people. When an Asantehene or Asantehemaa dies, stores and markets are closed for some days in Asanteman areas but not at New Juaben. He should know his limitations at New Juaben. If Asantehene dies, schools at New Juaben are not closed down until after his funeral as it is done in The Asante Region. Anyway, l don’t care about him because he doesn’t feed me, doesn’t pay me , doesn’t provide me with services. So long as he is a Citizen of Ghana, he must obey the laws of the land and l don’t care about him. Besides the laws of Ghana, I only respect him and he should not try to be autocratic. This is not difficult for him to do.

Do you have a copy and have you read it? There is no reverence in the name of utterly useless Kofi Karikari, he was rejected by our ancestors and he died a disgraced man. Prempeh, was just a nickname, it was not his given name. So, was Agyemang, it was just a term of endearment bestowed unto one of our chiefs who settled a dispute between two Brong chiefs. That said, there is no such thing as Asante name. They are all Akan names used by all the various Akan tribes in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. Now, who wrote the Ashanti history book that you read, was it Assibey Bonsu, Opoku Ware or Osei Tutu?
