It's about who's leading the fight. It's about the legality of it. The Minister's argument on population size as the basis for his argument using Nigeria, South Africa, Angola etc was inadequate. Yes on the face of it the Ghana price is higher.
Other factors such as government taxes, subscriptions per population size, operational Cost, etc varies in these countries.
Per the Hon Minister's logic , Car prices in Nigeria and Togo are way cheaper than we pay here. Our economy is highly inflated in all sectors. Hotels, restaurants, flights, government duties etc are highly inflated.
Last the the Minister's buga buga approach was wrong. In a free market system you cannot force anyone to reduce prices. Dialogues may help or allowing more players in the market can make it very competitive.
I'm waiting patiently to see how he's going to revoke their license. Patapaa approach . DSTV nso 3ye by force? Lol

GHANA IS FINISHED. IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM, JOIN THEM, PERIOD! KEVIN TAYLOR HAS NOW GOT THE TRICK! DUNCAN WILLIAMS, ETC HAVE GOT THE TRICK AND MESSAGE!
GHANAIAN LEADERS ARE ALL CRIMINALS AGAINST THE PROGRESS AND MODERN DEVELOPMENT OF GHANA AND ORDINARY POOR UNCONNECTED GHANAIAN FAMILIES,.
ALSO, GHANA'S LEADERS ARE ALL CRIMINALS AGAINST THE WELLBEING OF ORDINARY GHANAIANS SO THAT THEY AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS ONLY CAN CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO OF LOOTING GHANA TO BE ABLE TO LORD IT OVER "OTHER" GHANAIANS IN A DIVIDE AND RULE STRATEGY.
HAS KEVIN NEVER HEARD ABOUT GHANAIAN LEADERS "PROTOCOL" ACCESS TO GHANA'S BEST HEATHCARE FACILITIES AND THE BEST OVERSEAS MEDICAL AND HEALTHCARE ACCESS , ADMISSIONS OF THEIR CHILDREN TO THE BEST EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS HOME AND ABROAD REGARDLESS OF HOW BLOCKHEADED THEIR CHILDREN ARE, EMPLOYMENT OF THEIR BLOCKHEADED CHILDREN IN THE BEST PUBLIC SERVICE INSTITUTIONS WHERE THEIR CHILDREN CAN LOOT BIG AND GO SCOT-FREE, ETC?
IT'S IS A CLIQUE AMONG GHANA'S SUCCESSIVE LEADERS. "DE THERE"! OSP, ORAL ETC WILL NEVER RECOVER A DIME FROM ANYBODY. THE FAKE "INVESTIGATIONS" ARE ALL A MASSIVE SMOKESCREEN AND A HYPE. MAHAMA AND FAMILY ARE PART OF "THE CRIMINAL CLIQUE". GHANA IS FINISHED!
THOSE FAKE OSP, ORAL, NATIONAL SECURITY, ETC ARE ALL SMOKESCREENS. THEY DO NOT EXIST TO SERVE THE BEST INTEREST OF GHANA AND GHANA'S ECONOMY FOR THE COMMON GOOD. THOSE INSTITUTIONSEXIST ONLY TO PROTECT THE INTEREST OF GHANA'S PROMINENT LEADERS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, PERIOD!.
TAKE AKUFO-ADDO, KUFUOR, SAM JONAH, NKRUMAH'S CHILDREN, THE OCQUAYES, ETC AS A TYPICAL EXAMPLE OF THE ABOVE STATEMENT. THESE PEOPLE ARE WHERE THEY WERE/ARE TODAY NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE/ARE EXCEPTIONALLY CLEVER, BUT BECAUSE OF THEIR FAMILY CONNECTIONS TO PAST GHANAIAN LEADERS, PERIOD!
THAT IS WHAT GHANA'S LEADERS DO TO MAINTAIN THEIR HOLD ON POWER TO THE EXCLUSION OF THOSE WHO "CANNOT BEAT THEM AND JOIN THEM".
THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON IN GHANA SINCE 1957. THE STRATEGY IS TO DIVIDE, IMPOVERISH ORDINARY GHANAIANS AND RULE. THEM TILL THY KINGDOM COME.
THAT EXPLAINS WHY TOTAL ILLITERACY HAS BEEN IN GHANA SINCE 1957, DESPITE NKRUMAH'S SO-CALLED FREE UNIVERSAL EDUCATION SYSTEM IN GHANA

Gladly,we have seen the minister of health, Akandoh doing same. He subject matter deputy is about to drive her own exciting KPIs.
Ministers must not just occupy positions and draw salaries and benefits from our taxes. Their impact must be measurable and visible to the ordinary citizens. The days of sloganeering and propaganda must give way to cashable impact.
Politics must not be reduced to a vehicle for personal wealth acquisition but a real tool for delivering real solutions.

Before George talks about DStv prices being “unfair,” he should first understand how private businesses and premium products work. The car he’s even driving — if it’s a Mercedes — is a luxury brand from a private company. Is he going to walk into a Mercedes dealership and demand they reduce their prices just because an Opel Astra is selling for 20,000 cedis? Or because that same Mercedes might be cheaper in Togo or Nigeria? Of course not. That’s not how it works.
Same with Kempinski charging $600+ per night, or luxury houses and lands in Cantonments going for over 200% more than the standard market rate. Should we say those are “unfair” too because hotels or land might be cheaper elsewhere? No one is forcing you to buy them. They are premium offerings — and premium comes at a price.
If your budget is for roadside banku and tilapia, it’s available — and it’s still solid. But don’t bash Kempinski for not selling food at chop bar prices. Likewise, DStv offers cheaper packages. No one is forcing anyone to go Premium. But those who want more, and can afford more, pay more. That’s how options and value work.
Let’s not be selective. You enjoy luxury in one area of your life, but want to drag another company for offering the same tier of service? Be consistent.

It is not the responsibility of the Minister of Communication paid with my tax money to be wasting his time on issues which is the prerogative of the consumer/customer to decide.
Until 10-15yrs ago no Ghanaian subscribed to DSTV. We did not die. If you think without subscribing to it you will die please pay for it because your life depends on it and stop disturbing us.
I will rather my Minister of Communication spends my taxmoney used in paying him to come up with policies that will reduce network costs in the villages so school children in the villages, teachers and farmers can access the internet and use it to produce quality and cheap food to send to the cities. That I will support him if he does.

Kwadwo, what's your responsibility as a good citizen of Ghana, if you see a thief or thieves? We all are calling for reduction, I stopped paying my subscription about 2 or 3 years ago due to high subscription, but you shouldn't call them as thieves. It's like going to the market to buy an item and you come back with your money still in your pocket. Why because you couldn't afford it, does that make the seller(s) a thief(ves) ? There are about 4 major taxes which the company collect on behalf of gov't. Why is it that the minister is not telling DStv to stop collecting all taxes imposed by the gov't and see if subscription will remain the same or not. Why is it that ministers of transport, trade etc, go to the malls, shops and open market and see prices of goods and services are reduced or not. Only few items have seen reduction in prices. Why are other ministers not enforcing price reductions to reflect the cedi appreciation and low inflation but only communication minister? Some prices of goods and services are still high because inspite of the cedi appreciating to the major currencies and reduction in inflation, who pays for the upward adjustment of electricity and water? It's the final consumer who pays so Sam George must engage DStv and stop the threats.

Why are people soo worried about DSTV as if it is force to watch it. If you can't afford their services just avoid their services. Remember DSTV is not a public corporation.it is private business.

Sam george seeks too much populist attention. He must cease this public show off and act like a minister. How can a whole minister enter into public argument with a business entity? What we need are sufficient laws like they have in US and the EU which can surcharge of hand out penalties when it is established that businesses overcharged inappropriately for their services due to their monopolistic status.

Do you understand what you are saying or just the usual NDC nonsense? The open market is competitive, and prices of goods and services cannot be the same. Go to countries like the US, and they have a lot of cable companies, and they do not charge the same price due to what they give to their customers.
If DStv has more contents than GTv and the rest, why do you think they should charge the same price? Did the company in question force people to subscribe to their services, if not, what is Sam George's problem?
Some of you are too daft to even understand what is going on. Read wide and research to understand how the private market work.
