So Customs will sit by idly and watch the vehicles arrive at the port, keep them there for 15 days and then impose the required duties and taxes to be paid, go ahead and receive the amount and issue receipts for the same, then the vehicle is moved to DVLA which also issues a local registration number, without a thought for whether these vehicles are genuine or stolen??

And none of these agencies - GRA Customs, DVLA, CID, etc do not have an Integrity or Compliance unit between them to cross-check the details and the true origin/ownership of these vehicles prior to receiving them into Ghana's systems?

And now turn around to caution us that the payment of duties does not preclude that some cars may be stolen... are the importers and the government both thieves, having dishonestly received stolen property?

Then one turns around to accuse the other of having stolen the vehicles from abroad, after the government has already assessed it for taxes, received the taxes and spent it?

Instead of rushing to collect taxes, they should spend a few days verifying the origin of every vehicle that arrives here before going ahead to assess it for duties and taxes.

This is why the country is where it is at the moment. Lazy law enforcement agencies!!!
