Why do we rather intentionally or unknowingly invite corruption as such? For me, scholarships have to be centralized with only 10% allocated for schools abroad! The then secretariat intentionally courted 90% of available international scholarships for sale!

Please Pablio, is it the transformation from a Secretariat to an Authority that will stop the alleged bribe taking?Please Pablio, so many years ago, in 1970, l then a student, accompanied my brother to the Scholarship Secretariat for scholarship and my brother obtained scholarship and studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. We did not meet the Registrar. We met and dealt with the schedule officer, S O Mensah. He gave my brother the forms to complete and they scheduled a time for interview. My brother passed the interview and went to the University of Nairobi and studied Veterinary Medicine..Please at that time Veterinary Medicine was not studied at any of our universities. Please we never paid a pesewa and nobody asked us to pay anything Pablio, please if the present generation are corrupt and are collecting bribes before granting scholarships then it is a tragedy.

Pablo please the Scholarship Secretariat itself should be scrapped. It has outlived its usefulness. Please in the years before lndependence and in the early years of lndependence, there was the need to train Ghanaians to take over from the White Colonialists. So in the 1950s, Dr Nkrumah established a Scholarship Board, chaired by then lawyer Akufo Addo ( Nana President Akufo Addo 's father), which interviewed Gold Coasters and granted them scholarships to study abroad. R R Amponsah who later on joined the National Liberation Movement (NLM) was also stationed in Germany by Dr Nkrumah to grant Cocoa Marketing Board scholarships to Gold Coasters to study abroad. Then in 1960 or thereabout Dr Nkrumah established the Scholarship Secretariat headed by a Registrar to grant scholarships to Ghanaians to study abroad.The Scholarships were advertised and Ghanaians applied. They were interviewed and scholarships were granted for Ghanaians to study abroad .Please at the time President Nkrumah left power, there were only 3 universities and a lot of courses were not done here so Ghanaians were sent abroad for training..But please now we have so many universities and we are producing unemployed graduates. Also almost all courses are done here Please we Ghanaians are facing hardships .We pray that we Ghanaians should not be taxed to send Ghanaians abroad on scholarships for courses that are run in this country. In any case, these days when they go abroad, they don't return to Ghana. The Scholarship Secretariat should be scrapped. Please whether it is a Secretariat or an Authority this generation will collect bribes.Please if it will not be scrapped, then it should be there to administer scholarships granted to us by other countries. Please the Scholarship Secretariat should not be turned into an Authority for we Ghanaians to pay huge huge salaries and allowances to the workers only for them to demand and collect bribes
