Don't forget he was a suspect and so presumed innocent until proven guilty. The same constitution he quoted also states the man is innocent until proven guilty. Furthermore he even dictated those who should effect his arrest when you never summoned the suspect before you to hear his side of the story and this breached the rule of natural justice. The Supreme Court was perfectly right in squashing the warrant. Certiorari looks more at the process especially patent errors on face of record, jurisdiction and rules of natural justice more than the merits of the case. The man may be guilty of contempt but the court's procedure was wrong.
