It's really smart to come out and publicly signal to drug smugglers the scanners don't work before you replace them - very nice!

They will resort to manual searches which is even better, despite being time wasting.

Ghana MUST work. Who has the responsibility (at the airport) to ensure that the scanner is in good form? Is there going to be any form of punishment e.g. suspension, salary reduction, etc for that person's negligence of duty? It is high time we change our attitude to work. Citizens must take responsibility which they are paid for every month. We can not continue with the poor maintenance culture as part of our life. No that must STOP.

Scanners are fundamental tools for airport operations. Lack of scanners do not only pose risks to flyers but could be a cause for KIA to be sanctioned by other countries by either suspending flights from Ghana. It’s unconscionable that scanners will be inoperable for even a day before we talk of months. The Director of KIA should be fired. And the Minister of Interior should be reassigned. This is just stupid.

The scanners were introduced after 9/11 to purposely detect explosive devices that may be hidden in suitcases meant to be checked for aircrafts. If the scanners are not working, all airlines must be notified to temporary halt flights to Ghana as this poses a dangerous security threat to aircrafts. The safety of passengers and aircrafts is paramount. In Ghana, officials don't see it that way. It's just like another broken traffic light.

Arrant nonsense! Why should you be lamenting about such a matter to us? Are you representing the opposition? Disgusting!! All these characters. Politics, a pathway to financial freedom for many.
