Our exchange rate has reduced drastically and prices of goods have started reducing. The foreign exchange regime has stabilized tremendously! We now have a resilient and well-managed economy! Our inflationary rate has dropped down from your abominable level of 54%, and now running at 13%. Now, check how smooth our educational systems are being run and managed. Don't forget to appreciate how your reckless borrowing in the past has also been halted, leading to an improvedrating from the International Credit Rating Agencies. USED AND DUMPED ONCE MORE: THE NDC ON THE DRAWING BOARD IN 2029
It’s almost predictable—what happens when the NDC loses power in 2028. The party will pretend to be sober, act as though Ghanaians were ungrateful, and claim they did everything right but were still rejected. They will blame each other and point fingers at individuals who failed to carry out their mandates. Committees will be set up to investigate the failure—yet the outcome will be the same: the NDC has once again betrayed its loyal base.
As the wise say, "when your neighbour’s beard is on fire, you fetch water not just to douse it, but to keep some by your side." The NDC, unfortunately, is piling up drums of petrol while the NPP’s beard is still burning—singed by corruption, betrayal, disrespect, and outright disdain for their grassroots supporters.
Six months after Ghanaians overwhelmingly reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama's leadership, the NDC appears to have forgotten the 49% of committed voters who consistently defend and sacrifice for the party. Rather than acknowledging this loyalty, the party has embarked on a spree of elitist appointments, often favouring individuals with aristocratic or opposition ties—people who neither campaigned nor sacrificed for the party's return to power.
No one is asking the party to dismiss public servants simply because they aren't NDC members. But in making appointments, the party must ensure that roles go to those who genuinely worked for and believed in its cause. The problem lies not only in the appointments but in the blatant neglect and exclusion of party loyalists.
Take, for instance, Dr. Rashid Tanko, Deputy Director of Elections. During the legal team orientation in Tamale ahead of the 2024 elections, he assured the volunteer lawyers that their dedication would not go unrecognized. Six months later, those lawyers have heard nothing from either Dr. Tanko or Mr. Tamakloe, the head of the legal team. These are professionals with some of the most valuable qualifications in the nation—used and dumped.
Why is this dangerous? In 2020, the NDC piloted the deployment of legal practitioners to key constituencies. The result: a noticeable reduction in electoral irregularities. This success informed the decision to engage over 276 lawyers during the 2024 election. Their contribution was pivotal. Yet today, not even a thank-you message has been sent. If the party can so easily discard trained lawyers, what then is the fate of grassroots foot soldiers with little or no formal qualifications?
Worse still, internal power struggles are steering appointment decisions. Some bigwigs are hoarding opportunities for their loyalists in anticipation of the 2026 internal elections. They may win those contests, but they will lead in opposition—a role they’ve mastered far too well. This culture of exclusion and sabotage is eroding the party from within. When capable members are sidelined simply because of their association with perceived rivals, the party suffers—not the individual.
There is growing disaffection at the grassroots level, and it is spreading rapidly. Let the party be reminded: John Dramani Mahama will not be the candidate in 2028. The goodwill the party currently enjoys is tied to his personality and legacy. Do not delude yourselves—he is the reason people believe. If the party misreads this and continues to alienate its base, we will fall together. And when the backlash comes, it will not be pretty—EOCO and BNI will harass those who once enjoyed power, while the base remains silent.
There are also competent, qualified NDC members who suffered under the NPP—victimized, unemployed, and ridiculed. Today, they watch former NPP appointees enjoy privilege under an NDC government. This is how parties lose their soul. When the only qualification for appointment is to defect and insult your former party, what message does that send to lifelong supporters?
If a person can serve TEIN, run polling stations for over 20 years, remain loyal for 30 years, hold academic qualifications, and still be jobless under an NDC government, then what exactly does loyalty mean to this party?
The future is becoming painfully clear. If nothing changes in the coming months, defeat in 2028 will not come as a surprise. The insults, arrogance, and disdain from some party elites have reached unbearable levels. The base is watching. The base is hurting. And the time to revolt is very near.
