I would like to ask the following question. Are we really serious about incentiviting Ghanaians living abroad to visit, to come home and settle to invest in our country? My own answer to the question is a big " no!" The experience of two of my children in the US is one typical example of the disgraceful, inept, corrupt attitude of Ghanaian civil servants who work in our Embassy in Washinton DC and the New York Consulate respectively. It's a long story but the short version is the hell they went through to get their visas stamped in their passports and the passports returned to them on time for their flight. They neeed visas because they don't have the Ghana passport yet. I myself went through hell to get my passport at the DC embassy. When people pay for a visa and for postage of their passport, why this wickedness on the part of our embassy and Consulate employees? Hope the Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration reads my post and that he does something concrete about the attitude of our civil servants abroad. When will we change our attitude??? Someone needs to sue them to teach them a lesson. The annoying thing is that it's the Ghana government that would pay the price abd not the inept civil servants. This trend can not continue with our Embassies and Consulates !!

DA, you’ve raised the perennial question. The service that has since been brought to question - the courier service run by apparently an employee of the embassy was the solution. It was efficient. Little did I know that the person running it was also on payroll. Frankly, I thought he was an employee but the service was owned by the embassy. It was efficient. We are willing to pay for efficient premium services.
