It’s a painful irony when a country so rich in natural resources, gold, oil, bauxite, lithium, etc still has to borrow heavily just to stay afloat, and worse, citizens often don’t feel the benefits of those loans.

It’s a painful irony when a country so rich in natural resources, gold, oil, bauxite, lithium, etc still has to borrow heavily just to stay afloat, and worse, citizens often don’t feel the benefits of those loans.

Why should we be celebrating loans when we should be using our own wealth?

Debt trap: Previous bad loans keep piling up, and new ones are taken to pay off old ones! it’s a cycle.

IMF loans come with conditions often involving austerity measures, which hurt ordinary people more than the elites.

Across Africa, we’ve seen massive loan disbursements disappear into private pockets while hospitals, roads, and schools remain underfunded.

After over 60 years of independence is it too much to ask for. Ghana is great at talking and holding conferences and seminars but that needs to translate into Ghana actually being smart not just looking and driving in fancy cars smart.
