University Students in Ghana take loans for their education. What precludes those who are brought to the USA for education because they have the Political connections go to University for free here. The SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME was instituted by Kwame Nkrumah to FasTrack the education of Ghanaian Engineers, Doctors, Architects and other critical manpower for the accelerated development of Ghana.

At this stage of our national development where almost all critical courses are available in our state and private universities, what's the point in still maintaining this ARCHAIC scholarship scheme?

It's a complete drain on our scarce resources.

Most of these beneficiaries never return to Ghana but remained abroad after their training.

Also, with the lack of employment opportunities in the public sector, why keep wasting our resources on this scholarship scheme?

WE EVEN HAVE UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES ASSOCIATION in Ghana.

So far it has become a conduit for politicians to send their children and party foot soldiers abroad at state expense.

Also, many of the courses are irrelevant to our CORE CRITICAL MANPOWER NEEDS as a Nation!!!

THE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME SHOULD BE SCRAPPED NOW and the resources channelled into improvements in our local universities.

Dr Kwame Nkrumah is the only sensible president ever in the history of Ghana..Nkrumah was sending students abroad and bringing them directly to come and be working for Ghana..these days, scholarships to students abroad are purely based on party foolsoldiers..if u are a party foolsoldier, u can easily get a scholarship to study abroad even if u are not brilliant..the remaining president we have had up to date is full of Namur kakro..they lack leadership skills yet wants power by any means..Ghanaian politicians have two priorities hinge in common1. They don’t know how to govern a country 2. They lack the will power to develop the country because something is not right..before u send a student abroad to study on Govt scholarship , u must let them have a guarantor, so incase they refuse to return back to contribute to the development of the country, the guarantor pays 100 times the amount with interest..China used that approach and it worked..that’s why Chinese students are quick to return to China as a soon as they are done with school..u need to put measures in place to bring these students whom u have spent millions of dollars do they can contribute to national development..but just wasting taxpayers money on them and for them to refuse to come back to the country, then what’s the sense in continuing to be wasting money on such useless venture..it’s still pains me that Ghana like many African countries will miss the 21st century development..it’s a sad reality

They should transfer back to a Ghanaian university. Now there are a lot of programmes available, no need to go to the USA , especially not on taxpayers money. They got their Ghana scholarships through connections anyway. The really good students were taken on American scholarships from the universities.
