Nkrumah kept repeating the mantra 'the black man is capable of running his own affairs' but history has proven him wrong. The people he referred to as capable were criminally minded and corrupt to the hilt. To have formed an airline, factories, shipping line and handed them to his own people to run was an exercise in futility and showed simply that he himself did not know the character of his people well.

They make so much noise is opposition and when granted power they mess up and muddy the waters for everyone. The npp as a political party should never be allowed anywhere near governance ever again.

I totally agree with the comments about mismanagement or incompetence. My first time of travelling abroad was 2001. I went to cocoa house to buy Ghana Airways ticket and the staff in their office started laughing at me. They told me that I needed to contact an agent and they gave me the phone number of the agent, who told me that the airline had been fully booked from September to December so I can not get a ticket. Later someone helped me to get the ticket and on the day of my flight I was so surprised to see that the plane was only two thirds full and we had to take off with so many empty seats

Stupid people always blame Presidents Kuffour and Akuffo Addo for Ghana’s problems but forget about the MURDERER J J RAWLINGS who sold Ghana’s 18 ships,jute factory, and others just to mention a few. He also drove business people away trying to kill them,if a business owner invades tax, the appropriate way is to take the business owner to court and let the justice system deals with the person rather not kangaroos court.So the Ewes and the Northerners should stop pointing fingers and find a way to develop their Regions because they are very very poor indeed

Management, their immediately , extended familys were all travelling on an endless one dollar staff ticket. I had mates from secondary school who worked in the bookings/ ticket allocation office. The entire office travellled every month at one dollar return ticket. That staff privilege was abused to the core. Through my friends l hooded up a girlfriend whos father was also one of the senior staff . Their household and extended househelp(maidservants) all travelled on one dollar return ticket. There was a time l was travelling to london in 1981. Half the place were ghanaairways staff and management. The senior management took money from persons travelling to london with goods and large suitcases of bushmeat, snails, koobi, dried fish etc and pocket the cash. When the normal customer travel they are told their luggage cant go on flight and will come on another flight. All because they have taken money from the persons supplying ghanaian food shops in uk. When the plane is leaving uk, its the same business , this time its not fish of koobi but the boutique owners bringing stuff pay for their goods to get priority whilst other customers are told their luggage cant go as plane cargo hold is full. We dont needs dishonest ghanaians to run another ghana airways again. Apart from the very genuine , honest patriots who want to push the country to a higher level of competence. I later ended up having 2 girlfriends at ghana airways. They were away every weekend. One l got to know was a mule for some cartels. Surprising never caught till her last trip where she got 4yrs. Wives of senior management were selling the dollar ticket(return) for half the market price. They milked the airline. Imported parts for the planes when it arrives is hidden then sold to another airline for half the cost. Shame most of the management are dead now . They took on the ghana airways flats allocation but stayed in their official homes, then rented the airline flats to people. These are issues that should never be allowedto happen again

Thanks for exposing the shenanigans that resulted in the collapse of Ghana Airways. I flew Ghana Airways to the country in 1998. A few days before returning, I visited Ghana Airways office at the airport to confirm my return flight back to the US. The agent told me the return flight was fully booked. I knew that wasn't true, as it was an attempt to extort some money from me for a seat. After going back and forth with him, he finally relented and booked me on the flight. I boarded the plane the day of my flight and found that the plane was about half empty. With ticket agents conducting side businesses to the detriment of the airline, it is no wonder that it finally collapsed under the weight of theft, corruption and mismanagement.

Choose wisely when voting, don't let tribalism control your judgment. The NPPs have no good ideas. They're just noisy and they are more of them.
