This story brings to the forefront the Asante lies that they were never colonized. The Ghana map known today minus trans volta Togoland(volta region) was crafted in 1884 in Berlin at the partition of Africa. Which means that every ethnicity that lived within the confines of this map, including Asantes were under British rule. Like apartheid, being resistant to the idea does not mean you are excluded. If Asantes were not part of the colony, how can the British dictate policies and enforcement on Asantes.

Ashanti history is every where in the world and it put the flag of Ghana high. You can learn it in USA universities or UK universities. It about time we other tribes should embrace our culture, traditions and history.

How old are you? We need to embrace all the diverse cultures we have rather than prioritising one group over another. Cultural diversity is the key to our success as a nation. Respect that.

Nana Agyeman Prempeh was a victim of circumstances.
There were some economic crisis and change of foreign policies in Europe between 1870 to 1884.
The Long Depression,Anglo-Dutch Treaty, the Second Industrial Revolution and the Scramble for Africa were all taking place at the same time.
The Dutch alliance with Asantes broke down in 1872 leaving Britain the only European power in the Gold Coast.
The Dutch sold the Elmina Castle and other properties to the British in secrecy which provoked some resistance amongst the locals.
In 1873,the Elmina paramount chief,Nana Kobina Gyan was arrested and exiled in Sierra Leone.
The Asantes tried to take over the Elmina Castle from the British which triggered the Sagrenti War from 1873-1874 under the rule of Nana Kofi Karikari.
There was a peace treaty but the Asantes refused to respect its terms.
In the year 1888,Nana Agyeman Prempeh was enstooled the Asantehene over a divided kingdom.
Nana Prempeh refused to become a British Protectorate and was not paying the Sagranti War indemnity to the British.
This gave the British some reason to go after Nana Prempeh in Kumasi to arrest him in 1896.
It was a caculated strategy to gain access to the north and expand the Gold Coast territory.
Anyway, some Fanti,Nzema and Ahanta chiefs were also forced into exile before Nana Agyeman Prempeh.Tnx.
