What? He does not know what PhD is about. If he knows what the PhD is about, he will not be talking like that. Possibly, he has no idea what goes into the PhD course. For instance, my PhD class at Kingston in the UK, we had 21 students at the beginning but only 8 people passed through the masters of Research (MRes/MPhil) stage to the actual PhD stage. More so, only 5 got passed the viva. After the PhD thesis of around or over 400,000 words, one looks at Master students thesis and goes like, oh dear! One can ask any PhD candidate and they will tell you the difference. The research modules alone are crazy. After the PhD, it is said that one has a key to any research on anything they desire. The question is, who supervises a Masters student? The one with a PhD! Who supervises a PhD student? The one with a PhD! Remember, a professor is not an academic graduated title but a rank in an academia for lecturers.

Your thinking is no different from that of an ignorant person who claims that a Dutch passport is better than earning a PhD. Nobody is forcing you to pursue a PhD, but it’s unfortunate that you chose to display such ignorance on national television. If your courses truly passed through you, this should reflect in your reasoning.
