Before this arrangement, applicants simply sent a return Fedex/UPS label with applications and they picked up and delivered. The embassy simply placed the completed applications in the mailboxes belonging to these companies outside the building.
The other issue is the loss of custody of passports from the embassy to a 3rd party. We are clueless!

I personally did it for my own visa, my wife and children in different times.

Ablakwa should investigate the legality of what Kwateng did and if it is illegal then all the top officials at the embassy including the Ambassador should be investigated and prosecuted. It will not be surprising that similar schemes are happening in all our embassies abroad and ORAL should extend their investigations to these missions abroad. The pride and arrogancy displayed by some staff members at these embassies are nauseating. They are there to work in the interest of Ghanaians and the country but it is shameful to witness the behavior of some of the staff members. Ablakwa must purge these embassies.

You're all complicit in the guy's dealings and you got your share as ambassador. Whether you made money meant for the state or not, what you supervised during your tenure was illegal and still remain illegal in the diplomatic dispensation. We all know you will never admit to Kwarteng's actions because you made your share out of his nefarious activity.

Try as you explain yourself, Kwarteng will face justice because in addition to his montly salary, he made illegal money out of Ghanaians in the name of the Ghanaian mission where he was sent to work on representation of its citizens.

If you don't understand anything, call him and seek explanation. He does things buga buga like that. Does he know the cost of returning one embassy officer home? Some are there with their families; did he think of the cost of resettling whole families, and sending a different set of Embassy staff and their families to the US? That could run into tens of millions of dollars, aside the inconvenience of finding new schools for children of school-going age, etc.. The alternate was to carefully review the man's contract and do the necessary due diligence, which would have been a far cheaper alternative. Big head, little sense.

If he has people doing the delivery on his behalf then he has not committed any crime, as simple as that. He has declared his interest already hence he was offered the contract. Another area of needs is the issuance of the contract if there were other bidders.

This Alima Mahamawas Ambassador for some period and wants Ghanaians to believe there were no corruption in the embassy. During her time, nothing like this came out, and instead of responding to the Minister's findings, she is rather insinuating the minister is lying. She was the ambassador and either condoned with the corruption and indiscipline at the embassy or was incompetent to resolve the menace. Ghanaians who have gone to apply for passports and visas know the hardships an applicant had to go through because of the nature of the people who worked at the embassy. Alhaja, just keep quiet and allow the minister to do his job that you either failed or refused to do.

There are exceptions to conflict of interest if the person, A, has made the necessary full disclosures and the other party, B, upon evaluation determines that there is no conflict in the services to be provided, then the two parties could enter into the agreement. So we need to know all the circumstances before we jump into hasty conclusions.

This is a standard practice everywhere and it goes into embassy expenses. But we can't go after a private company who made money because of a policy the past govt made. So I believe we should let those company move on with their lives but punish the NPP officials who were serving at the embassy and knowingly broke some contractual laws. The next step is to focus on how Ghana embassies around the would do a better thing next time
