Some Ga chiefs are getting it completely wrong. If you study Ga land ownership systems you find out that most Ga lands are owned by families and not the chiefs. So when such requests are made I ask myself will the lands be returned to the appropriate families if the request is granted or such lands will be usurped and the land disposed of by the chiefs. The sad case of Ga lands is that most of them have been sold as freehold and not as leasehold and so these lands are gone forever. That is why some of the chiefs when enstooled and realising there is no land available to be sold resort to seizure of lands even if properly acquired. The story of Ga lands is a very sad one. It is nothing but stories of fraud, naked thievery, greed, grand extortion and out right robbery. I always say that if Ga chiefs had handled their land issues diligently, some Ga stools and land owning families may be richer than the Asante golden stool .

When a government acquires private property for public use, a fair compensation is paid. In other words, the colonial government didn’t seize your family property by force! A compensation was paid!! Hence our current government must be careful not to release legally acquired property to any family just because it was acquired during the colonial period. Let no government officials collude with any family to release public lands to a private family so they themselves can have a share!

The people have nowhere to go to get a fresh air under this scorching heat we have in this country and now they’re begging for more lands to continue their bad behavior… just look at the state of our country infrastructure is in complete shambles..The drainage system is terrible and when it rains the whole country turns into one big swimming pool. How about we use those remaining lands for public use like parks and playgrounds libraries and better roads for the people..?
Stop selling our lands to the rich and greedy and think about the poor people a little!!!..
