  I totally agree with the honourable gentleman. There should be a mandatory military service after high school for six months. It will make our youth more displine and ready to face the world.

  What we need to do is to teach our children moral ethics from JHS all the way to university level. Every educational institution should have ethics on their schedule. With moral ethics, I am not talking of preaching the bible. For example, the teacher could simulate a scenario with an ethical dilemma and ask the students to debate a solution to the problem. The approach here should be Problem Based Learning (PBL). There is a lot on PBL online.

  Military service for the youth or university graduates should not be mandatory, it should be optional . The university graduates can choose either or not to have military training. The government can choose to include some form of training as part of the educational curriculum in the senior high schools or in the university and even that should be optional. Some people want their voices heard by making stupid suggestions to government

  Our bane as a nation is that we don't have any national development agenda. Politicians get up and do whatever they like without initially envisaging where a policy will take the country. Any wonder Nana Addo came to build a national cathedral? Look at trainee nurses allowances, Mahama cancelled it; Nana Addo came to restore it and now Mahama is promising its timely payment. What kind of nation are we building? With current proliferation of guns in wrong hands, is this necessary? Do we have the means to individually monitor what they do with their training? It's sad Ghana is being managed at the whims and caprices of low IQ politicians.

Our leaders come to lead us on ad hoc basis. The example of the nurses allowance which you cited is an excellent example of the lack of direction in policy decisions.
