In realitt, national service has outlived it's purpose and should only be a voluntary service with stipends. There is no need keeping national service Secretariat and the scheme for any gain same as teacher and nurses training allowance. The purpose for those incentives are no more in existence and all must be faced out. Any serious government will give those monies as loans to businesses to create more employment opportunities. It is absolutely an idiocy to keep those policies is the 21st century Ghana.

It appears Ghanaians have short memories. This is not the first time we have heard of scandals on NSS payroll. In fact, during Mahama's past regime a similar thing happened and the money involved was gargantuan and running into billions of dollars yet Mahama swept everything under the carpet and those involved were left off the hook to enjoy their loot. Nana Addo came and intead of reopening investigations intothematter, he just closed his eyes because he saw the NSS as a perfect conduit to siphon money from the National coffers for his Akyem Mafia and now look at the mess. It is important to note that the NSS has outlived its usefulness since it has now become a conduit for siphoning our national resources by our good for nothing politicians.

I think we should congratulate Felix Gyamfi for these measures being put in place to check the input of GHOST NAMES into their system. These will save the state lots of money for other uses. For those who were being paid at other institutions whilst still on the NSA payroll, withdrawing their names alone should not be enough. The NSA should work with the Accountant General to retrieve those funds they collected fraudulently, by monthly deductions. This might be hard, since there are equally guilty Parliamentarians who collected DOUBLE SALARIES in the past, but DOABLE. This will also continue to put those Parliamentarians, whether NDC or NPP, on notice that society has neither forgotten them nor forgiven them. To reset Ghana and put us on the course of accountability, there must be some bitter pills for those who had previously, knowingly coated every pill with honey.

The situation where the government pays allowances for teacher and nursing trainees for them to be trained and at the end of the training they start putting undue pressure on the government to employ them and once they get employed then they start making all kinds of demands as against their conterparts who either pay for their training with student loans will have to be reviewed. It is hope someone will see reason in this and table it at Parliament for it to be discussed and abolished

I'm sure this policy was when we needed more nurses and our politicians don't have the balls to scrab it now that it has outlived the purpose. Why not scrab it and use the savings to employ more nurses in our hospitals? I'm sure allowance of 100,000 students can employ like 10,000 extra nurses. Isn't that a better option???

I'm delighted that efforts are being made to integrate the Controller and Accountant General's payroll with the NSS system. This initiative is long overdue, and I'm not surprised given the anomalies I've witnessed. In my workplace, I was shocked to discover about four years ago that two staff members were receiving salaries from both the NSS and the government payroll. I suspect this issue might be widespread across regions, and I believe the government should conduct a thorough investigation.
