I keep on asking myself why is it that we don’t hear of white ministers and appointees running out of their countries to hide in Africa after change of governments there?
We seldom hear any white appointee running away from accountability when there’s the need to do so.
But back here in Ghana and other African countries, the moment they realize there’s change of government, the corrupt ones run out of the country to seek refuge out there.
Unfortunately the whites also accommodate them because they will end up spending the stolen booties in their country and that will pump proceeds of crime in their countries.
I see the whites per entertaining such criminals as a form of leverage that urges them to engage in serious crimes whilst in office.
The world must come together to say no to shielding of political criminals just like we do to fraudsters and drug barons across the globe.

As a deeply concerned Ghanaian citizen, I am alarmed by the ongoing situation involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who is also a direct cousin of former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Reports suggest Mr. Ofori-Atta has absconded from Ghana, evading accountability for his tenure.

My firm belief is this:
If Ofori-Atta refuses to face Ghanaian justice, his disappearance was likely orchestrated with the knowledge or assistance of former President Akufo-Addo. The Akufo-Addo family has a vested interest in preventing Ofori-Atta’s prosecution, as his trial could expose extensive financial misconduct and dubious transactions allegedly perpetrated against the state. If the former president does not know Ofori-Atta’s whereabouts, he bears moral responsibility for enabling a culture of impunity.

Calls to Action:

1. To Ghana’s Judiciary & Constitutional Reform Committee:**
* Treat the Ken Ofori-Atta case as a precedent for strengthening accountability.
* Enact stringent laws banning immediate family members of convicted or fugitive officials from holding public office for a defined period. This will deter elite collusion and rebuild public trust.

2. To the International Community (Specifically the USA):
* If Ken Ofori-Atta is residing within your jurisdiction, arrest and extradite him immediately to Ghana to face justice.
* Do not allow your nations to be safe havens for individuals accused of looting African treasuries. Uphold your commitment to the rule of law by facilitating his return.

3. To the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP):

* Investigate Mustapha Hamid: The source and legitimacy of his significant wealth accumulation during public service demand urgent public scrutiny. How did he amass such wealth? The OSP must provide answers.

Conclusion:
Ghana cannot tolerate impunity for alleged grand corruption. The Ofori-Atta case is a critical test of our institutions' ability to hold the powerful accountable. We demand justice, transparency, and systemic reforms to end the cycle of elite exploitation.
