Given the number of coups going on in West Africa the past few years, the US base and it's people in coordination with the Ghana Army serve as a deterrent against any possible insurrection to occur here. BTW, if you haven't noticed, the US military is NOT an all-white operation: at most bases about 30-40% of the force is African-American.Don't forget about the Latino and Pacific Islanders either.

You think the US base is here to serve Ghana's interests. Absolutely not. In their stated policy documents, a core duty of the US Military is to protect American interests, meaning protecting resources that they don't own and are found in other countries. Do you know that as part of the agreement for the setting up of that military base, a US operative caught in a criminal activity cannot be arrested or tried by Ghanaian law enforcement agencies. This is a surrender of our sovereignty, which we must get it back. Another thing, they are just here because of their need to counter China's influence. Never be deceived that the US cares about you; they only care about their interest.

Enough of these meaningless exhortations! Pratt knows very well that it was Rawlings who secretly got Ghana into AFRICOM. It fits in perfectly with Rawlings’ and NDC’s anti-Nkrumahism. NDC fully supports the 1966 coup that overthrew Nkrumah. For this reason, for roughly 30 years NDC has honored Kotoka and refuses to restore the original name of Accra International Airport.

The honor given to Kotoka is highly offensive to all patriotic Ghanaians. Kotoka is the equivalent of Mobutu and Blaise Compaore in Africa and Pinochet in South America. He is a vile criminal who murdered Chief of Staff Major-General Barwuah in front of his wife and kids in cold blood! Kotoka should be court-marshaled even after his death for the murder of Major Barwuah. Removing Kotoka’s name from Accra International Airport would be the best response to the West for its subversion against progressive governments in Africa.

Ghana signed a military treaty with the US, so the US has access to some of Ghana's military facilities. It is called a lily pad. So the US has a military base in Ghana. The military treaty with the US should be revoked.

Please be careful where you are going. I have always been getting the feeling that NDC will ask US to leave this country as we saw in the Sahel Regions but be very careful about this push. What is the state of those nations who drove US and France away to allow Russian to replace them. NDC and its functionalists may be ready to ask US to leave but the people in Ghana are not yet ready for this. Be careful, you may be pushed out before you push US out. Ghanaians are praying.
