All these are traced squarely to Kingsley, the immediate past Registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat. The very fact that this stingingly corrupt character is even now an MP makes many conclude that this country is an irredeemable banana republic. This is a shady character who publicly auctioned scholarships for as much as £12,000-13,000 per slot. If you Ghana knows just about 5% of what we know about this stingingly shade character, there will be a civil war in Ghana. This is a useless country, and our democracy has only served the political elites. Under civilised countries, Kingsley should have been in Nsawam Maximum prison for life. He auctioned scholarship, used phony schemes to swindle money and took those monies here in the UK. There will be a civil war in Ghana if Ghanaians know the schemes this shady used to skimmed money off into his slimy private pocket. He may have properties here in the UK. The Ghana Audit Service should do a performance, but not with the current Auditor General at the helm. A new AG should conduct a forensic audit and bring this stingingly corrupt character to account.

Kwame whiles I agree with you, Kingsley was just a conduit for Okyehene and Akuffo Addo. Yes he availed himself to be used as a criminal mastermind. The budget approved for the GSS was allocated to the office of the President. The minister of education had no control over Kingsley. Indeed Kingsley has 6 flats in London and 2 in the US. They were all his share of the larger syndicate.
Due to the way and manner the acts were committed it will be difficult for the state to retrieve them.

Is it not common sense to SUSPEND any NEW scholarship sponsorship for some years until we can settle these debts. Then if we ever decide to resume sponsoring scholarships abroad, let us begin with a very SMALL number of beneficiaries then slow incrementally. Each year budget we'll to decide how many you can afford. What is so wrong with the decision makers in Ghana. Is that the incompetent way any adult would manage his home, let alone a government institution?

This problem predates president Mahamas new government. You cannot blame the new government for this as tgey barely got into office inherited massive indebtedness n bankrupty The problems started several years ago if not decades ago.iIt certainly got worse under Akuffo Addo government. But we need to SUSPEND all new sponsorship until we can get our acts together as a nation. We are owing too many people.

Yes, I heard most of those scholarships were sold for 6,000 or more pounds a piece. By the way, are the students saying the courses they are pursuing in the UK are not available in Ghana? Ghana is not a serious country.

It’s high time Ghana government stopped these overseas scholarships. First, most or all the courses are available in Ghanaian universities. Second, after graduation, these students never return to Ghana. Third, even if they return, there are no relevant job positions available for them to fill. Because of internet and online courses being offered even by all the world’s prestigious universities and colleges, it just doesn’t make sense for the government to keep sponsoring students to attend overseas institutions. In fact, we like to know where foreign sponsored graduates in the last five years are working in Ghana now. Ghana and all African countries are just not serious in improving their higher education.

You spend the nation's scarce foreign exchange on these students and there are no jobs for them to do when they return to Ghana. So many of these students will prefer to stay in the UK and do menial jobs because there are no jobs in Ghana fof them to do. How do you expext the students to live in the UK when allowances to sustain them are not being psid?
