The cedi gain is nothing but 'Windfall' due to global trade issues. The governor has implemented nothing, but only crafting theory to back the appreciation. If it took just a month for the cedis to appreciate that much against the dollar, the governor of Bank of Ghana should be aware of a possible devastating rebound of the dollar. He should remember that the strength of our economy is in the export sector which finds itself on the opposite edge of the sword. Not every inflation is externally driven. I foresee internally driven inflation going forward when the math is not 'mathing'. It's not funny to bite more than you can chew, but that's exactly what the cedi is doing now. The earlier you work for stability the better because our international trade will begin to stagnate due to the currency volatility. Every situation has good and bad!

Why didn't you call JDM evil when he said $1 to Ghc 1 will hurt the export sector? Stop tickling yourself and learn about international trade and why sharp appreciation of your currency can be bad. A good and prepare mind is the one that sees the good and the bad of a situation and take steps to avert the consequences. Advice the governor to start putting in place measures. Not only the cedis is appreciating now.

Have you asked yourself why china devalued its currency which makes the USA angry? The answer is simple. The lower your currency the more exports your and lesser imports which improves your trade balance and economy growth and development. Increase productivity and employment. Improves standards of living. In 2013 Obama administration took the Chinese government to the world trade organization to force China to increase the value of the Chinese currency because they see the devaluation as cheating. The USA won the case and China was for to appreciate it’s currency.

You are keeping the bank rate at 28% but expect the petty traders and business to reduce prices and make losses. As usual the heavy burden is placed on the ordinary Ghanaians. If you believe in the Cedi appreciation as the economic miracle that you are preaching then, take the pill yourself and reduce the bank rates. Ghanaian traders are smart business people and can read BS more than any theories you have.

The government needs to collaborate with civil engineers to do a feasibility study to relocate the capital between Amansaman and Koforidua.
- Accra has a high density population.
- Accra is choked with traffic.
- Accra is filthy.
- Accra has high pollution. Too many airborne diseases.
- Accra is prone to earthquake.
- Accra is prone to flashfloods.
The government must exercise its power of eminent domain to acquire all this parcel of land to complete this project.
Ghana should have followed suite, right after Nigeria relocated its capital from Lagos to Abuja in the 90"s.
Senegal, Ivory Coast and Egypt have all relocated its capital city.
Government needs to set aside high budget for infrastructural upgrade and development. This a huge project, but it is worth it. This project needs to ne started within 2 to 5 years, irrespective of which party is in power.
