It makes ZERO sense for Ghanaians who want to renew their passports to FLY from other states to DC, book a hotel for at least a day to be able to do biometrics just for renewal. I am talking about renewal OF AN EXISTING PASSPORT! THIS IS CRAZY AND IMPOSES A HUGE FINANCIAL BURDEN ON GHANAIANS FROM THE WEST COAST, MIDWEST, CENTRAL, OR EVEN NORTH EAST wanting to renew a passport or get a VISA

That is true. I myself was caught up in that fraudulent scheme in December last year when I applied for a visa to Ghana. Years before, I was asked to buy return postage from the Post Office which was far cheaper. To my surprise, I had to pay $29.75 for return postage, and by the time I got to check out, I was charged an extra $1.00 for only God knows what, for a total of $30.75. The visa was also $60.00. By the time I got to check out, it was $65.00.
That amount would have put food on the table for a poor Ghanaian family for at least 3 weeks.
I should be able to have my money refunded

The embassy is a den of thieves, staffed with corrupt, unprofessional and greedy employees who are there only to line their pockets from stealing money intended for consular services. While the architect of the criminal scheme was a locally hired Ghanaian IT specialist, I would like to see the embassy revamp their hiring practices, by employing local non-Ghanaian personnel only. Most of the Ghanaian hires are unprofessional, uncouth and lack the concept of customer service.
