Destruction of our forest reserves with excavators by illegal miners is a permanent and irreversible damage to our forest ecosystems and such destruction can't be restored through the planting of trees. The best to save our forest reserves is to stop the destruction by the illegal miners. Looking at the rate of destruction, very soon there will be no forest reserves in Ghana and so our politicians should get serious

  Very TYPICAL OF Ghana's Leadership to play with our mind--or seems to be clueless about how to deal with the problems facing the NATION.--Of what use is the GOLDBOD ENTERPRICE that has been established-?....and then again what is the use of this group called BLUE WATER GUARDS ?---
  NOW ---let us be very realistic--a priority --the foremost PROBLEM which had been most concerning is the GALAMSEY MENACE---and this is what the GOVERNMENT of the day must tackle and stop effectively instead of this lackadaisical -wishy-washy approach.
  Why is leadership failing to grab the BULL by the horn and deal with this EXISTENTIAL THREATENING CALAMITY---due to this GALAMSEY MENACE.
  I shall continue to advise that the only way to STOP the present state of the mess caused by this GALAMSE MENACE is for PARLIAMENT to pass a LAW TO BAN any form of Small Scale Mining activity a for a foreseeable period of say 5-6 years at least ; there should not be anything like Legal or Illegal Small Scale Mining activity during this period of the 5-6 years BAN.--A VIOLATION of the BAN shall attract a severe PENALTY even death sentence by Firing Squad [both citizens and non -citizens must be subjected to same penalty]---note that in some countries in Asia Drug [Narcotic] Trafficking attracts severe penalty --in most cases death sentence---it is a deterrent and it works. Meanwhile with this BAN LAW in operation, a serious afforestation exercise shall be embarked upon to allow the desecrated Agriculture Land and polluted water bodies back to LIFE--[healthy state]--Let the gold remain underground undisturbed until a RESPONSIBLE safe Small Scale Mining technique is designed to win the gold .
  This is where and why I question the knee jerk justification of establishing the GOLDBOD-----why not first STOP the damage arising from the GALAMSEY Small Scale Mining activity --then thereafter lift the BAN guaranteeing that a responsible method shall be used to extract the gold. Whilst this BAN measure is in place young Sammy Gyamfi must be deployed to lead the Tree planting program to get the vast destroyed Agricultural Land ,the Forest Reserves and muddy polluted Water Bodies back to Life.--[Nothing should be done to potentiate the GALAMSEY MENACE --hence the call for-NO Small Scale Mining activity during the Tree Planting -Land reclamation exercise. That fanciful Blue Water Guards unit can be of used in the Tree Planting exercise . The Military and the Police can effectively deal with execution of the BAN LAW.
  To those citizens and non-citizens who are engaged in the GALAMSEY ventures---their arrogance and ignorance must not be tolerated--for any JOB that is not of benefit to society at large is criminal and must be halted.---We are wasting precious time to STOP this GALAMSY MENACE -which is killing us ALL softly and slowly.-----That thing called gold may look precious but it is not PRICELESS as WATER;---gold is not LIFE--PLANT is LIFE ---WATER is LIFE.---Genesis--1.11--GOD said," Let the land produce vegetation :seed bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it ."
  Pressure must be put on PARLIAMENT to ENACT a LAW to BAN any Small Scale Mining venture for a foreseeable period as stated ; If the President cannot request his PARLIAMENTARINS to do the needful---let the VOICE of the PEOPLE be loud and clear----CIVIL SOCIETIES--THE MEDIA --TUC--STUDENT UNIONS --PROFESSIONAL BODIES--TRADITION LEADERS--RELIGIOUS LEADERS--MARKET WOMEN--TRADERS---ETC----all must direct their protest rallies --marches at Speaker Babgin and his PARLIAMENT to live up to their RESPONSIBILITY and do the needful.--PASS the BAN LAW and save us all from the EXISTENTIAL THREAT at hand.
