These trees were planted in the second half of the 1970s. The idea was to have the trees planted all the way to the Atomic junction but GAEC board did not approve the planting beyond what was the end of constituted the site of the Atomic Energy Commission. It was also to enable staff walk under the shade home from the Reactor Site in the event there was no transportation. We just can't anything good. Is it because many people are born in villages and rise through school to hold positions in Ghana? Or we have just cultured foolishness!

Everywhere around us, this country is besieged by "educated" cave-dwellers who cannot think beyond their "chew, pour, pass and forget" outdated education. I find it difficult to understand why or how people can't understand the value and the importance of the ecology to the continued existence of man on planet earth. Look how even the govt is finding it so difficult to stop the galamsey menace even though the lives of hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians will be stunted by its after-effects in the very near future.

It takes years for a tree to mature then just one day with a reason best known to us, we destroy it. When you go through the hot sun from Haatso towards Atomic Down, you are sure those huge trees will give you some comfort and shade before you face the other part of the sunny road again. Soon this comfort and brief relaxation will be no more.
Whiles I grow and observe the impact of human activities on the environment, I keep thinking to myself, God may not destroy the earth but human greediness and selfishness will naturally deplete all God-given resources and finally destroy the environment and the earth.
If something can be done, lets do it and leave those trees in peace.
Ah, but picture looks like Sandema road ooooo
