  I totally agree with you. Ghanaians who are found culpable with the justice delivery systems elsewhere are tried and sentenced there.
  If we decide to repatriate illegal immigrants that’s fine but for those that commit crimes, they ought to face trial to serve as deterrent to others.
  How can repatriation scare those that intend to come and flout on our laws?

  Two people engage in galamsey and when arrested the authorities ask whether the person is a national or a foreigner. If you are a national, you are punished but if you are a foreigner your only punishment is deportation to your country. Where in this world can we find this kind of law discriminate against nationals? As incentive, foreigners engage in galamsey will put their national IDs in their pockets when indulging in their illegal activities. We are not sane.

  The Ghana government's treatment of foreign galamsayers is totally misguided. All persons who are arrested, prosecuted and found guilty should be made to serve their sentences in Ghana prisons, regardless of their national origin. Which country in this world allows Ghanaian residents arrested for committing crimes to simply be shipped back to Ghana without have to face prosecution or even serve time in prison before being deported? It's time for the Ghana government to stop its hypocritical gaslamsey war and start prosecuting all foreign nationals accused in Ghana courts and then making them serve their prison sentences in Ghana. Once the sentences have been served in Ghana, the foreign nationals then should be subject to deportation.
