Look, this country does not need any new university for anything. We already have enough universities which for many years, have been producing hundreds of thousands of recycled illiterates every year. That said, with all our abundant resources, we cannot even deal with the most basic necessities of life such as water, electricity, sanitation, Healthcare and town planning. University Graduates have become a liability and a source of tension because inasmuch as they hold worthless certificates from useless universities, we dont have employment openings for them, and if we did, we cant afford to pay them. If the minister seriously thinks, for whatever strange reason that we need a new university of the type he is announcing, all that needs to be done is to open a new faculty at the KNUST or any other similar institution where that line of study can fit in well with their existing tertiary orientation. The resultant massive cost-savings can be used to improve the quality of tertiary education across-board in the country so that we can then have the privilege of producing thinking graduates who are up to speed with their chosen professions.

NDC always set up universities and leave it NPP to mess them up. Haruna go and see how Napo has messed the University of Environment and Sustainable Development UESD in Somanya in the eastern region. NPP tried to relocate the university to Kibi and VC , Registrar director of finance and audit were all appointed without going through the proper channels and qualifications. Haruna go and save UESD before the VC and the Registrar destroy what NDC worked hard to set up

All you need is to revisit the proposed plan in the pipeline and bring it to fruition instead of reinventing the wheel all in the name of resetting and creating anew.

It is something you have inherited, it’s been on-going for sometime now. The ground works have been on-going and the bill to establish this as a full fledged university, together with that of other five new universities, was to have been passed into law by December, 2024. Your group in parliament then, particularly you, Ato Forson and Apaak, fought tooth and nail, with some flimsy excuses and rough tactics, to frustrate this move. The media was awash with all these news and the progress thereon, before you came into office. Just acknowledge that this is an inherited project and not your baby, and let’s all move on. After all, Rome was not built in a day.

This is back to the old drawing board. Great idea. During Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah's era, Ghana had this establishment in place at Nyankpala now (UDS) campus and one at Kwadasu in the Ashanti region.

I don't think we need more universities. We rather need more applied reasearch in applied biology in the field of agriculture. We should make our universities more effective in terms of reseach and its applications. Emphases on graduate education should be based on research rather than book delivery.
University professors should be promoted based on thequality and applicability of their research in our society.
Rather equip the already establish colleges of Agriculture to do active research. There should be a strong correlation between government, universities and society.
Graduate education at the Universities should be encouraged.
The country needs extetension research and development centers such as the one you are talking about at Kintampo.

The basis for an Agricultural University is at Nyankpala already and has been barely used or made progress. Using the Nyankpala campus eventually as a university will make more sense but let get basic education standards in the region to catch up with the national level because no body wants to work in the north including the educated northerners.YEN

Misplaced priority!!! One of the dumbest policies past governments made was converting polytechnics and technical institutions to universities. It was after this policy that we started having unemployed graduates. Polytechnic and technical graduates used to create their own jobs after school - plumbers, electricians, contractors, etc. Now graduates from technical universities want to stay in the office - the old colonial mindset.

The current NDC administration is repeating the same foolishness. Have all agricultural science graduates in our existing universities secured employment? why do we have to have another University of Agriculture and Life Sciences? Is it for political reasons, so that people in Kintampo area will become fanatics of NDC? I like Iddrisu, but I completely disagree with him on this.
