Have you ever heard in the history of Ghana that any President has removed a sitting Chief Justice except under a military take over or coup? Nkrumah did it once, but the result was very gloomy for his government. John Mahama is setting similar precedent, and will be replicated in the future. It will also undermine the constitutionally mandated Judicial independence. Whoever Mahama nominates as the next Chief Justice will also be removed by the next NPP administration— and the trend will continue unabated. In so doing what are we doing to our young fragile democracy?
