  In other jurisdictions,this Health Minister would have been sacked from his post.Infact some of President Mahama's ministers are immature.Recently the Ashanti Regional Minister was also seen talking rudely to Fire Service personnel in Kumasi and KMA DC was threatening to cane traders in Kumasi..The President himself is going all out to sack the Chief Justice in the country. So it appears his appointees are coping from him.However the President and his government should bear in mind that they are there for the people and their present conditions is not permanent
  .Ghana is ruled by laws and they cannot go round threatening professionals who have taken so many years to train for positions they hold .legally. what is happening at Tamale Hospital now should teach the President and his appointees a lesson.My only regret is that sick people who go to that hospital now have no doctors to treat them because of the Minister's arrogance.

He was recalled from a metting in the US to the UK, and, guess what? He was sacked on the spot. Do not take my word for it just google , Kwasi Kwarteng, sacked for his disastrous budget. Plonkers like you keep defending the indefensible. Get effing real, will you?

  To hell with the Ghana Medical Association and their arrogance. Instead of supporting the Minister to improve service delivery you are out in the media criticizing him. Are you doctors satisfied to be working in an environment without the necessary equipments to cure your patients? Sometimes, the eqipments are there but have broken down and not repaired due to poor management. These are the issues which the Minister is addressing and you are there making noise. I doubt if most of you are even qualified to be called doctors because you were trained here in Ghana in an impoverished medical environment (just see the state of our hospitals across the nation). Not everyone can afford private medical care so please let's rally around the Minister and make the public health care system great and affordable.

  These doctors should be respected because they have chosen a life of service to the needy, otherwise they wouldn't be serving in a place like Tamale. They could take their skills anywhere and live a better life. So if for nothing at all, respect them for that. You go there and talk to them anyhow because you think you are enjoying public support from an election?
  
  They will show you where power lies. When the strike hits one month, you will see how quickly you will be tossed aside. Next time, learn to comport yourself when you are given small power.

  Leadership is not about showing off in public or playing to the gallery, it is about quietly gathering information (from all quarters), analysing the facts, meeting the stakeholders to review the analysis, then coming to remidiation/solution of the situation/problem.
  
  As we speak, in some hospitals in the UK, patients brought in by ambulances to emergency departments may spend 8-18 hours waiting to be seen, or cared for in the ambulances or hospital corridors. In some cases the patients die in the ambulances or hospital corridors whilst waiting to be seen. And yet, the health secretary (minister), has not gone to these places with a cane and entourage of “soli” journalists, to display their power, or scold health staff.
  
  Rather the UK government is working with hospital management and staff, to get on top of this issue. This is how things are done in civilised countries, as opposed to shit hole countries like Ghana and the like.

You have to be tough as a minister unless think what you did was wrong and no basis therefore you should not do it in the first place. There are plenty Ghanaian Doctors to be CEO. If the CEO was doing his job properly he should have picked the guy who talked to you disrespectfully and like you said if even you he was talking to you like that then the guy has no empathy, care, compassion to be in that field which are some of the great attributes. I am Dr in one of London hospitals and if Minister is paying a visit, you be lucky for even been in the people going rounds with the Minister visiting wards. Was an opportunity for me being is one of such visits. Get rid of all those notorious doctors and nurses in the health sector. Patient is the most important person in the hospital or health sector as without patient there is no need for such a profession being Doctor or a Nursese, etc.

  He must render an apology to the hospital staff and reinstate the CEO before the medical staff will end their strike.

  All he will do will be to use ideas which are only populist to conceal his shortcomings. More of such actions will follow.
  
  Does he have proper records on all the health facilities to know their problems and how to address them so that hospitals will be run efficiently?
  
  Instead of throwing tantrums and using rash words at the least opportunity he must take his time and either learn on the job or rely on his experienced directors to address the pressing issues health professionals face in the country by way of health delivery.
  
  If it’s not politics which has given him such a high level position can he stand before a highly trained medical officer and be misbehaving?
