I am sorry to disagree with your post, especially the political underpinnings of the post. As a retired ghanaian doctor with vast working experience overseas (and in Ghana), the working environment, attitude of health staff and professionalism in the hospitals/Ghana health service (as well as most Ghanaiam ministries/MDAs) since the 1970s, is nothing to write home about.

The sector minister, were he to be smart and professional, would have made mental note of what he observed, then hold a root cause analysis meeting with the hospital CEO and heads of departments, to discuss his observations.
What the minister observed at the Tamale teaching hospital, for his information, is a pervesive situation in about 91 % of Ghanaian government health facilities ( and some private health facilities).

Was it not very recently that such complaints were also made about Ridge hospital (non-working equiptment, including a relatively new MRI machine, poor staff professionalism etc)?

Any wise Ghanaian should then ask the question why such a state of affairs?
The simple answer is not the physical structure of the hospitals, not the health care staff, not the CEOs, but the Ghanaian.

Things are the way they are in all sectors of the Ghanaian society, because of the ostrich-like behaviour and corrupt mindedness of the average Ghanaian.
Until and unless the average Ghanaian changes his/her attitude, we will continue to face this conundrum of low standard service delivery, in all sectors of the Ghana ecosystem, indifferent of political government.

Many people will be appalled by trying to paint a picture that all is well in our hospitals. My father died in hospital for lack of care. We waited for hours and no nurses or doctor came to see him when he was struggling to breathe. Most Ghanaians know how our hospitals behave. The health professionals need to change their attitude to reflect the values of the people. They don’t seem to understand that their goal is to care for people with respect.

As the CEO you are supposed to liaise to secure the needed logistics to help the hospital. Dont just write a letter and send it through the usual channels and cross your legs in your desk. If you send request and nothing happens, get the MP for the area involved. He will take to the sector minister and Im sure some action will be taken. For all you need the requests that the CEO made the sector minister may not be aware of it. We have old old people in the system who are supposed to take action but can hardly read letters because of old age or glaucoma or some eye problem, the letter will lie down for ages and no none will read it.
I watch the video, the Dr. needed to keep quiet at some point, especially when the minister was getting annoyed. He tried to explain the situation but the minister at some point wasn't happy and so the Dr should have kept quiet at that point. Threats wont work. It will make matters worse

Why don't we ask ourselves why the President and the Vice President and Speaker of Parliament and Ministers of State go abroad for medical treatments even though there are health facilities in Ghana? The simple answer is that no Health Facility in Ghana is fit to be classified as a Hospital. Beautiful buildings that lack essential medical equipments. Doctors and nurses have virtually nothing to work with. But let us go and examine the Foreign Contracts that funded the construction and equipment of the hospitals, and you won't be surprised to see that every essential equipment is stated in the Contracts but the equipments were shortsupplied...the difference vanished into deep political pockets and the sufferers are Ghanaian citizens. Yes...Ghanaian political leaders and political appointees shall go overseas for their healthcare services. NDC and NPP don't care. Right now Naana Opoku Agyeman is receiving medical treatment in UK while the Minister of Health uses his political power to bully the poor medical workers at Tamale Teaching Hospital which has only 4 beds at the ICU in the emergency ward that caters for the entire Northern Region. And that poorly equipped Teaching Hospital is the place where medical students train to become medical doctors. The politicians never ever care.

We don’t have any proper hospitals in Ghana as the facilities are very poor
Tell every minister mp ceos to personally adopt one hospital and let see wat happens in two years
Secondly most of those making unnecessary noises should go to all the recently commission hospitals since past two years and do an audit of the equipments
