  Most of these promises are not feasible within the time frame, while others are plain lies, which according to John Mahama, are purposely made to win the hearts of gullible voters. But discerning Ghanaians do not take those promises seriously. The free academic fees for first-year university students is a typical example of advance-fee-fraud, and also, a pie in the sky. If the government is indeed serious about this, it would have included those of the next academic year in this year’s budget, since the academic year begins in the last quarter of the year.
