It appears the Big 5 knew what could happen to Ghana 100 years ahead of their time and desired a properly structured transition. One man thought he knew it all the five had started the struggle were wrong. Today, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Senegal and Kenya have overtaken us and we are proud to get visas to Europe, hold British and US passports and start conversations about our children studying in American Universities. In case you didn’t know, the Big 5 were never against independence. They were concerned with a systematic change where we would not be colonised by the Lebanese, Syrians and Chinese in the foreseeable future. They were planning an independence where we would not go begging and above all, to secure a political system without the abuse of power. Unfortunately, most Africans are such that if you put a book and a mobile phone before them, the former seems worthless. Between toto and work, they’ll choose gbemi. They can’t seem to think right, to understand that work leads to wealth and that guarantees the best sormi. Nkrumah, Castro, Mugabe were poisoned by communist tenets. They chose a system that would make them gods among the population and have roads, schools and places named after them. Sorry, but Accra cannot be renamed Nkrumah Town or the Ghanaian changed to Nkrumanian. He sowed the disunity that has plagued us to this day and hour. He taught us to collapse the businesses of our employers and set up ours. We learned to pull our helpers down from Nkrumah. He taught us to demonize and destroy those who feed us when we are hungry. The legacy he left has been profound and still resurfaces in many aspects of our understanding or misunderstanding of teamwork in this country. Maybe we must be a little more circumspect to point out the land Nkrumah truly founded: Volta. It’s no lie when we admit that Nkrumah is the founder of Ayigbeland.

I support the idea of Founding Fathers and not a Founding father. Nkrumah was the leader at independence and must be recognised as such.
At least some people started the agitation for independence before Nkrumah joined in. How can someone who joined later be the sole founding father? I also do not understand why the Asantehene at the time has not been recognised as a founding father? Without his agreement and cooperation, Ghana would not be as it is today. Why? Because, he agreed to join up to make up present Ghana. Founding fathers will settle the issue!

There should be no debate about Ghana’s founding fathers. It has been in the history books since our independence and no body should reward Akuffo Addo with his version of our founding fathers. Our historians have settled that issue long ago and I do not know why Ghana should re-visit that topic now. Haruna Iddrisu should focus on our dilapidated school cycle . Ghana has been experimenting with different academic systems with educational ministers crafting our school cycles for us based on which party is in power. The present rotational cycle must be abolished. The academic community in the country including professors doctorate holders, educators, students must all come together to create a suitable educational cycle and system that is suitable for the country.

Ghanaian politicians should stop interfering in the education of this country. The qiesttion of who founded Ghana is purely an academic issue which could easily be settled on by giving it out as a research project topic to postgraduate students of our universities and their findings would determine the founder(s) of Ghana.. There's no need for politicians to set a curriculum committee to determine the real founders of Ghana because they will never be objective and they will do the bidding of their political masters. This committee will surely conclude that Kwame Nkrumah is the founder of Ghana

It was rather unfortunate that Kwame Nkrumah megalomaniac as he proved to be was never decent and humble to share the honor with his fellow members--remember he was invited to come join the others to fight for the INDEPENDENCE of GHANA -----
Let us face the FACT that Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah was more of an AFRICAN than a GHANAIAN -----Nkrumah never LOVED GHANA more than he LOVED AFRICA-----Nkrumah might have been vocal--[voiceferious] in championing the independence of GHANA but that never lessens the significant contribution of the other BIG SIX MEMBERS-----and that makes them BIG SIX -----KWAME NKRUMAH Loved AFRICA more than he loved GHANA.-----Let us put POLITICS aside --THE BIG SIX are the founding FATHERS'

Yes --of cause Kwame Nkrumah was instrumental in getting INDEPENDENCE of our NATION -GHANA but never should the credit be given to only Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah--the FACT that Kwame Nkrumah was brought in to join the other five members of the UGCC--to press on for GHANA'S INDEPENDENCE--remains---even though Ako Adjei & Kwame Nkrumah broke ranks from the group --the fight for INDEPENDENCE never was halted-----It was carried on successfully and The Independence of GHANA was historically achieved.
Hence it must not be claimed that only one individual must be credited as the one and only FOUNDING FATHER----the other 5 individuals must be also recognized as Founding Fathers-----Let it not be a political partisan affair -----FOUNDING FATHERS' must PREVAIL period.--we must not re-write HISTORY------Let the historical fact be FOUNDING FATHERS'
