Your IGP goofed big time on his recent visit to Bawku. His promise to the warring factions for placement in the police service is very dangerous, to say the least. That will rather make the situation worse and difficult to resolve. It will arm both factions with superior skills, intelligence and tactics for an ad infinitum war, with widespread and dire consequences. The people are fighting to protect and preserve most importantly, their lives and then their heritage won for them through the blood and toils of their ancestors. The mere promise of jobs and or other economic opportunities does not go to the core of the issues for any meaningful resolution. The IGP made the statement in a rush, without a careful thought, either to please his masters or to prove his worth, but he goofed. Maybe, he is getting tired and “diminishing returns” might be setting in after 40 continuous years of police service.
