We can negotiate for GoG to own a higher percentage but we have to admit that as things stand we do not seem to have too many legitimate, tax paying, financially disciplined business men and women in Ghana who can manage this. Look at Asante Mines. It’s a joke.

to run this by hiring professionals and paying industry competitive rate?
Or Let the entire mining be owned by the Government of Ghana and hired an engineering firm with track record to mine it with formula for proceed sharing?

Yes we can but do we have the capacity now ,if not proper negotiations should be done as we prepare and people loosing their jobs should not happen at all because in this economy it’s not easy

Gold Fields started operating the Damang mine in 2002, and not 1997. The mine was previously owned by Abosso Goldfields Ltd (AGL), who started the mine in 1997.
