There also a lot of billboards at intersections that block drivers' views. They should be made to remove those also.

@Adjoa. So true. Ghana is a lawless country. How can one reset a country without ensuring that there is law and order in the society. The numerous advertisements and billboards makes Accra and many other towns in the country looks clumsy and untidy. Visit Ethiopia and see how clean and well organized Addis Abeba looks like. We have a long way to go in Ghana. Our leaders travel but it seemed they have their eyes closed when they visit their peers.

Ghana is a big village, and politicians, apart from their eyes being riveted on money and cars, don't care for things that seriously matter.

In Ghana every where is a market place (due to the lawlessness). The Black Star Square is gradually becoming a market square and a place to ride horses. The square is now full of horse feaces and no body cares to put a stop to this development. I ask myself many times what is wrong with us as a nation? Why are those in power not taking their responsibility to ensure that there is law and order in the country? We cannot live in a country where citizens can do as they wish. Countries which are developed have achieved their status (among other things) by ensuring that there is rule of law.

A small step in the right direction.
Billboards distract and they should not be allowed at all.
An exception should be made by billboards that give directions to how to get to a certain place.
Best would be if these direction boards are made in an uniform way.
(Name, Logo, maybe photo of the building, arrow and distance)
These boards should be made by the government, so still income.
A new phenomenon is electronic billboards. They are really distracting.I guess the money made by that is more important than safety on the road.
And what about the safety of the road it self? Pot holes, outdated sign boards (e.g.: if you go on the high way from Madina to Accra, you can according to the sign boards go left to East Legion, when there's a big one way in the opposite direction.
Dangerous asbestos roofing plates put in pot holes by amateurs, why is there no rule to forbid this? How many people die from asbestos on the road?
So summary:
A tiny little step in the right direction, but action on the real road problems are hardly made.
