I can count Ebi Bright as among the 20 most intelligent, cultured, eloquent and presentable political figures in this country at the moment. She is even over-qualified for the job of a Mayor of Tema. For a few obviously senseless youth to protest her presumed appointment, shows clearly that they are wandering around in this world without brains. This also raises the suspicion that these youths are either the typical pschologically disoriented members of the NPP or they are aggrieved followers of one of the factions of the Greater Accra NDC Regional executive body. Whoever they are, their interests are clearly against those of the nation and they must be watched closely by the security services or, they must be clamped upon and disciplined. The country hasn't got time for fools and idiots who, like the Danquah Busia terrorist group, so badly undermined the development of Ghana in its early years.

In addition, this nonsense about wanting an indigene of Tema, doesn't quite make any sense. The original native people of the village of Tema were moved out en mass out of their town during the days of the 1st Republic, to give way for the construction of the industrial port-city from scratch.

The massive construction program of the industrial port city - the biggest ever seen in Africa at the time, included tradesmen, workers and technocrats not only from all over Ghana, but from all over Africa and the world. During the many years of construction, they were all accommodated in Tema with their families.

Upon completion of the outstanding Tema project, not only did the migrant workers continue to stay and work in Tema but in addition, the several hundreds of industrial plants and the port which had been built, employed administrators, technocrats, engineers, administrators and workers from all over Africa and the world. The population of sex workers from all over Ghana and West Africa,
also grew exponentially to service seafarers of ships that came from all over the world.

During my youthful days at school in Tema, I can confidently say, off the top of my head that at least 95% of my mates in any class that I was in, were not born born from natives of Tema.

Off the top of my head again, I can confidently surmise that Tema is probably the most cosmopolitan city in Africa. I am therefore struck with total astonishment by the claims of some youth that they prefer a Tema indigene as Mayor. I would be very interested to know how many of those youth themselves are indigenes of Tema. In any case, are they looking for a competent Mayor or an indigene as Mayor? After eight horrendous years of Akuffo Addo, the moral and intellectual fabric of the youth of this country has been torn to shreds. The youth of this country - no matter their academic qualifications, have, with a minimal exception, all gone gaga.
