Right now our chiefs don't have a greater (full) autonomy over their areas of jurisdiction and yet they (somehow) have the authority to bar some individuals and their activities from their area, so imagine if they were given greater power? I think if our chiefs were given greater powers to stop galamsey and they were fully responsible for any galamsey activity in their area, with support from the government, they would do whatever it took to stop it
