Every true Ewe across the world enjoys Agbadza and you must start playing and enjoying it because it was our ancestors music which we all played and enjoyed together before we all left Notsie. So Ewedome people must go back and make Agbadza music part of your own.. that's the bare truth...

Agbadza dance goes back deeper than atrikpui. It could be traced back to the ashikpe(achikpe) dance of the Adja tribe and also the akpokpo dance of the Yoruba. The Ewe, like all Gbe ethnic groups are descended from the Adja tribe and are remotely related to the Yoruba. Ashikpe evolved into atrikpui, gadzo, agbadza other dances found among Gbe people including Ewes.
Agbadza dance itself as a warrior dance initially was an imitation of birds in flight as some of the ancient warriors claimed to have mysteriously transformed to birds to spy on their enemies before actual battles.
