  Shallow minds! Yes you can! There are too many of such machines already in Ghana doing galamsey. If you ban the importation, those doing galamsey could be moved to do the other jobs you described. Hence indirectly you’re addressing the galamsey issue by banning their importation. Your current argument sounds like you want galamsey to continue so you can profit from it big time! May God save Ghana from corrupt politicians.

Galamsey now is a WAR zone. You don't go to Battle with the conviction of failure as evident in your presentation. All the Institutions you mentioned from the EPA, LANDS and MINERAL Commissions, the Chiefs and the Police will redicule you on your Committees.They have been there and since they are still there, from your presentation, you are only going to join them.This WAR is beyond Committees of a Minister.

  Ghana can not ban the importation of excavators in order to stop galamsey. The excavators do not operate themselves. They are operated by human beings.
  The government must make laws against galamsey and enforce them . Those who violate the law must be prosecuted. The government must use our idle military and the police to enforce the laws . If we don’t stop this menace of galamsey, Ghana will soon be importing food and water . Currently our food chain and fish is contaminated with all the chemicals being used in galamsey . Our health is at risk due to the chemicals infiltrating our food supply.

  2. Declare state of emergency on our water bodies, you said it can not be done.
  3. Ban importation of excavators temporary, that one too can not be done.

  I think the Minister is not having it easy with the local Chiefs. Some of the Chiefs think galamsey is job for the boys. We are losing lands for farming and irrigation so there's food shortage throughput the year. The Chinese doing galamsey should be deported. Ghanaians doing galamsey should be jailed. Other related Ministers can be drafted to assist the Land Minister in the fight. Thank you.
