When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Can a Ghanaian go to any other country and pay to put up a signpost in Twi or GA?? Please use your brain. This type of mentality that just because people can 'buy it's does not mean it should be allowed. Remember, that is how some ended up selling Africans to slavers... Just because Europeans had money and sometimes cheap trinkets to pay ... So just get a grip of your thinking and learn to be proud of Ghana and Ghanaians and stop selling yourselves so cheaply! For all you know those Chinese signs could be insulting you! How would you know?! Please, some things like pride in who we are is worth more than anything money can buy.

However the akurasini CEO disagreed with her, always antagonising her efforts.so she honourably resigned and left the gang of thrives at the tourism outfit.with her brief stay she never had the opportunity to make an impact. Her views on sanitation is still relevant today, not only the Chinese creepy signages.

We need to keep a careful eye on the Chinese because for all we know they may not only impose their language on us but may decide to come in with slave trading ships to cart of Ghanaians as slaves to China. The last time this happened, West Africans were carried away (of course with the help and collaboration of some fellow Africans) to Europe, the Americas and Carribean Islands as slaves and this lasted for hundreds of years. Watch out if the Chinese also start to build slave forts by the coast. That is the first thing erstwhile foreign slave traders did on arriving on our coasts. So far the Chinese seem to be behaving themselves and bulding bridges ,habours, rail and road networks, airports and other useful infrastructure all over Africa. We will see. We will see.

Chinese signposts in Ghana :
I feel conflicted having read majority of comments being entirely in support of the call. My humble opinion is that this call, while it may seem justified on the surface is not exactly correct, if you delve deeply into the dynamics at play here from the standpoint of global education and its attendant advantage to those who can understand and read the Chinese language. Whether you like it or not the Chinese language, culture, commerce and economic power have set themselves as major contenders on the world stage and they are winning - nobody can dispute this assertion, it is a foregone conclusion.
I submit that it is to our advantage to start learning the Chinese language now and be well placed as partners of China on the world stage and become winners as well. I can illustrate :
1. let’s come home to the home front and bring the Jinapor brothers to explain clearer. These brothers were raised in Asante Mampong by their Gonja parents and as a result are well versed in the cultural nuances of the area, including speaking Asante Twi flawlessly. Ask them if they have lost their Gonja heritage? Not at all! Similarly, when Ghanaians learn the Chinese language and culture, how can it be justified that the latter are colonizing, when it is rather us that are being slow in adjusting to reality and taking advantage to learn the new challenge. We simply must learn to be dynamic in our mindset. China is on the winning side and we need to be smarter. I say that seeing Chinese signposts on Ghanaian soil is only a hint and a wake-up call to new reality.
2. Ask any Ghanaian who speaks the Chinese language whether they have advantages or not when they travel to China for business? Need I say more ?

this country and her leaders should be mindful about anything when it comes to foreign relationship.
when other national comes into your country - the first thing is integration into the local community,
it must be a taboo to allow foreigners to practise and try to integrate the locals society into their foreign norms.
even if you either borrow from them or got a grant for any project- there should be no way to allow that foreign inscription into your community

Not only the Chinese sign boards but numerous other sign boards in our towns and cities should be pulled down. Accra looks clumsy and untidy with billboards along the roads, on buildings, public spaces, parks, etc. There seems to be no regulations on where to post an advertisement. Go to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and see how advertisements are regulated across the city which makes Addis looks clean, organized and beautiful.

I am with this lady. I wish her excellency the vice president Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang , should bring back her conversation on teaching our children our local languages starting from kindergarten, so we can eventually come to a good place to select a few of them we can read and write well for adoption as national language. This can help us think and act for the good of us all - unity n diversity. God bless our homeland, Ghana
This a good call. It's long overdue. How many Ghanaians understand Chinese language on a signpost?

You just have to be angry at what is going on in the country. How can we allow foreigners control our country like that? Mahama must bring back our economic, social and political independence.
My good buddies (all the guys above), I disagree with you on this. If the installation of those signposts is being paid for by the Chinese and they want them to be in their language why not?
Then next time they pay our books we start reading Chinese in our schools?
You are a bloody fool to go this way.
My response was meant for P Djamgbe.
This lady's argument is flawed. One could also use the same argument against the English language. Why don't we drop English and then adopt 4 or 5 or 6 Ghanaian languages as NATIONAL LANGUAGES? After all numerous countries ha ...
