Political interference in the public/civil service is dangerous to meritocracy, succession planning, business continuity, risk mitigation, employee morale, career and organisational development, and growth. People who otherwise would not qualify, in anyway, for any managerial position in the public service, including the State-Owned-Enterprises, have been appointed as CEOs and to other top management positions, because of political cronyism. The most annoying part are those who attain such positions straight from school, without critical skills and experience. It is very disheartening to the very qualified and experienced workers, who spend most of their working lives in the public service, but without political connections and godfathers. Such politically neutral people are rather seen as saboteurs and sidelined, because they don’t kowtow to the nonsense of the politicians.
