I do not think Seidu Agongo meant his children should not speak English in the literal sense.
I believe what he meant was that this fixation of speaking English BETTER than the King of England is what he does not want his children to CONCENTRATE ON.
For me, it is funny that some of us who spoke in an African accent passed Legal Advocacy in a Bloomsbury Law School but those who were born in the UK but spoke street English, not pronouncing some vowels and a silent t were referred. Hahahahahaha.
In truth, in London universities where is work, students are not expected to be grammatically correct NECESSARILIY. So far as they transmit the information CORRECTLY, it is deemed to be good.
Now, students are encouraged to use Generative AI platforms so far as they make the work their own even in the study of Law.

Don't display your ignorance. Languages borrow from other languages. What is the English word for 'revenue'? Don't tell me it's revenue, because that word is borrowed from French. Experts have said that over 70% of vocabulary in English is borrowed from other languages. So nothing stops our languages from borrowing from other languages. That's part of the paths for a language to grow.

In the interview he mentioned that prioritizing English over agriculture in Africa is a misplaced focus. Countries like Japan and China thrive without prioritizing English, yet they harness agriculture to drive economic growth and self-sufficiency. The real key to development is mastering valuable industries, not just a foreign language. If we invest in agriculture the same way we push for English proficiency, we can build food security, create jobs, and boost our economies—on our own terms.

Agongo is clearly myopic, despite being a successful businessman. he probably got his wealth by fluke or slimy political connections. Here is the difference between English and Twi- Cheques, contracts and agreements are written in English, NOT Twi. Beyond that whilst you need English to travel outside the shores of Ghana, Twi is only needed in the village of Oseikrom, NOT more. In fact, one does not even need Twi to function in Oseikrom, but one needs English to navigate life in Kumasi/Oseikrom. I hope this education helps.

He is trying to emphasise how important it is for us as a country to prioritise certain important life skills like agriculture which puts food on the table for all of us. There's sense in what Mr. Seidu is saying because how can English been part of our curriculum but Agriculture studies has unjustly taking out yet we expect to have a food security as a nation Ghana. I'm 100% agreement with his assertion about English language been so much piriotised than everything in this country even food which nobody can do without. So Agriculture studies in our schools in this country is very necessary especially as government is spending millions of cedis into food importation.
