Ato Forson was emphatic about his meeting with the IMf board next month (April) to ascertain the modalities of the vat calculation before the Covid levy could be removed. Folks don’t be daft because the possibility of the IMF consultation board rejecting the revamping of the Vat is highly possible and the Vat revision doesn’t come on then the Covid will still stand so those semi illiterates on this platform should go back to take advantage of the free education. Illiteracy is a disease. There was no betting tax during President Akuffo Addo’s government. Even though the betting tax bill was promulgated but it was not implemented. Folks with small minds should check this same Ghanaweb on what Sammy Awuku the former Ghana Lottery Authority has said about this issue. What people were paying on lottery won was not a betting tax. Anyone who won lottery paid tax on the winning bonus. That is different from betting tax. Betting comes under the Gaming Commission which didn’t operationalised the betting tax even though it was passed. Nobody who won betting was taxed so there was no betting tax to be cancelled as was mischievously put out by Ato Forson. That was what the learned former Minister of Finance Dr Amin was explaining. Folks get education and it will help you.
